About Us
The Stair Shop was formed by Paul and Mike Lomax in 2000 and is celebrating over 20 years in business. Since Paul’s retirement, the business is now owned and run by son Mike and his wife Sam. Over the years, they have cultivated a team of expert admin staff, project coordinators, carpenters, technicians, drivers and fitters.
Continually upgrading our equipment and facilities has allowed us to stay at the forefront of the bespoke staircase industry. Our Stockport based factory is home to a large workshop, dedicated spraying and prefinishing facility and various storage units for all of the staircase parts and materials we have on offer.

Mike Lomax
Owner & Director
Mike oversees day to day operations throughout the whole company and is also head surveyor.
Sam Lomax
Director, Accounts & Sales
Sam looks after all of the accounts and is also involved in the management of the installation schedule and sales.
Martin White
Production Manager
Martin oversees the entire workshop production and is also involved in sales and purchasing.
Tom
Web Designer & Social Media Manager
Tom designs and manages new website content and looks after all social media activities.
Ralph, Rio & Robin
Meet & Greet Specialists
Ralph, Rio and Robin (Mike and Sam’s Cavapoos) are our factory meet and greet specialists. They bark a lot but are very friendly!

Stores Manager & Caretaker
Paul looks after incoming and outgoing stock and general upkeep of the whole site.
Mike "The Driver"
Driver
Mike is our full time driver. Rarely smiles but is a lovable chap and absolutely loves his job.
